Torque & Throttle is a South African motorcycle media platform created by riders, for riders. We share honest motorcycle reviews, industry news, new-model launches, riding adventures, technical features, gear tests and track experiences.
Our goal is simple: to help motorcyclists make informed decisions while celebrating everything that makes life on two wheels special.

The Torque and Throttle Performance Index
The Torque and Throttle Performance Index is our standardised testing system for comparing motorcycles using measurable, repeatable challenges rather than specifications and opinions alone.
Each motorcycle completes five tests:
- 0–100 km/h acceleration
- 60–120 km/h acceleration in third gear
- 80–140 km/h acceleration in sixth gear
- 100–0 km/h emergency braking
- Handling test — ten cones positioned five metres apart, followed by a U-turn and a return through the course
The recorded times are combined to produce the motorcycle’s overall Performance Index result. This allows viewers and readers to compare motorcycles across different categories while still considering their intended purpose, price and riding experience.
Honest Reviews, Different Perspectives
We believe a motorcycle review should be useful, entertaining and honest. We do not change our opinions to satisfy manufacturers, dealerships or advertisers. Support from commercial partners helps us create more content, but our conclusions always remain our own.
No single motorcycle is perfect for every rider. By bringing together different riding styles, experience levels and perspectives, we aim to explain not only whether a motorcycle is good, but who it is genuinely suited to.
Meet the Team
Torque & Throttle is brought to life by Tiaan Janse van Rensburg, Ben Viljoen, Reginald Waldack and Leandi Janse van Rensburg. Together, they bring different motorcycles, riding backgrounds and perspectives to the platform.
Kayla Nortier serves as editor, helping shape each story and ensuring Torque & Throttle’s articles remain clear, accurate and consistent.
These different perspectives are an important part of our reviews. A motorcycle that works brilliantly for one rider may not suit another—and our discussions reflect the variety found throughout the motorcycling community.
